Hi there, my coworker posted something similar on the InDesign forums but I thought I would ask over in scripting as well. I've also searched tho forums and found alot of info on importing from excel but I'm wondering about exporting to excel.
We are in the process of trying to populate a database with content that is in InDesign CS5. In order to populate the database the data needs to be in excel and then into the database. Rather than cutting and pasting, is there a way to export from InDesign CS5 into excel?
To give some background we are using multiple pages with alot of content.
Think 36 weeks of schedules (tables) organized by week and day..... followed by 2 text frames (or more) worth of content. Our boss would like to have everything organized as it looks in the schedule but I don't think it will be that easy and I think it would take alot of man hours to accomplish.
We've tried this method:
Select/Highlight all the table data.
Table > Convert Table to Text (Column seperator = Tab, Row seperator = paragraph)
Select/Highlight all the resultant text
Export > Text
Open the resulting text file with Excel
Which only added extra information the the excel file we couldn't use.
Are there and scripts or plugins we could try?
